What resources does the Episcopal Church have for lay ministry?

Ministry of the Baptized in the Episcopal Church

According to the Book of Common Prayer,
“The ministers of the Church are lay persons, bishops, priests, and deacons.”

The Office For Ministry Development exists to support the ministry of lay persons (professional and volunteer) as well as ordained ministry. There are literally hundreds of programs, books, or organizations concerned with lay ministry in the Episcopal Church.

Ministry in Daily Life: A Guide to Living the Baptismal Covenant has an excellent bibliography that can serve as a starting place. You may read it online or download it from this link; you you may order a copy to be sent to you.

In addition, you can contact the National Network of Lay Professionals, the Alban Institute, or any of the Episcopal seminaries. Most dioceses offer a variety of training or education programs for lay ministry.
