Providing summer camp experience for children of parents who have experienced incarceration is an important outreach opportunity that upholds the dignity of many children who are among the most vulnerable in our communities. Because of this resolution 2006 D012, we have been blessed to encourage dioceses throughout the Episcopal Church to promote and develop such opportunities for ministry to these children and, in effect, to minister to their parents.
During the past two years we have been able to provide 27 grants for summer camps for children of persons in prison. We are pleased to announce that we will conclude the triennium as we provide the remaining $24,000 in funds for 2009 summer camp programs.
Working with Ms. Tina Lynch from Mission Operations we have reviewed all applications received and are pleased to announce the following grant awards. As per General Convention resolution 2006 D012, $1000 grants will be provided to each of these ministries to support summer camp programs targeting children of people who are or have experienced incarceration. Networking discussions can be found in the Jubilee Ministry Facebook group.
