created in 1982 by General Convention in New Orleans, heralded a new era of work for the Episcopal Church. Jubilee Ministry was mandated through a resolution as a ministry of join discipleship with poor and oppressed people wherever they are found, to meet basic human needs and build a just society.
Currently there are 419 Jubilee Ministry Centers in the Episcopal Church Center; these community-based centers are involved in outstanding ministry/programs throughout the country; they are Churches, organizations, and/or agencies of the Episcopal Church who are involved in a ministry of empowerment, evangelism, advocacy and/or direct social service.
Each Jubilee MInistry Center strengthens the Community and reminds neighboring communities or more possibilities for living out the Gospel mandate as expressed in LUke 4:18-19 and Matthew 25:34-40.
