Mission Opportunities
The Episcopal Church is seeking mission companions to serve the worldwide mission of the Anglican Communion and the larger Church of Christ.
Service may be through several categories:
-
Volunteers for Mission (VFM), typically serve one to two years, supported primarily by their own local congregations or dioceses.
-
Appointed Missionaries ("Appointees"), who make longer-term commitments (minimum three years) and are supported both by their local congregations or dioceses and by the national church program.
-
Young Adult Service Corps (YASC), Young adult Episocpalians - no one over 30 - spending a year serving the church beyond the USA.
Mission companions, whether VFM, Appointees or YASC, serve under the authority of the host bishop and work in partnership with the local church. They bring their unique gifts and receive, in turn, a larger perspective on the world and God's one mission.
As a mission companion of the Episcopal Church, you can live out the promises of your Baptismal Covenant, engaged personally and professionally in the life and well being of God's people around the world. Is this service as a missionary something to which you are being called?
A position description details the qualifications for each position.
The application for all types of mission service is available here in pdf (Adobe Acrobat) format for you to print out, complete, and mail to the Mission Personnel Office. All 8 pages must be printed, completed and included.
