Sending Diocese: Southern Virginia
My responsibilities included coordinating income generation projects for displaced Sudanese living in Cairo. The Egyptian government allows the refugees entry into the country, but does not allow displaced Sudanese to get an education, have access to medical services, or to have a job. The government does allow them sell items through a store in the Cathedral; I coordinated these efforts. Our most popular project was Tukul Crafts, which made screen-printed clothing, bags, and accessories.
