“That’s part of what gives the Episcopal Church our resiliency and our capacity to stretch ourselves in a variety of ways,” he said in an interview Thursday afternoon.

“Whoever we are, whatever portion of Christ’s truth is resident in us joins with other dimensions of Christ’s body, other expressions of Christ’s truth when we come together to share the one bread and the one cup,” he said.

Sexuality issues dominated many days of debate and press coverage. Griswold said convention is more than simply those questions.

“I am heartened that we have endorsed the millennium goals of the U.N., that we have taken seriously what it means to be a community of reconciliation not only within ourselves and between ourselves, but also globally, and our commitment to an increased global citizenship,” he said. “I think it is a real sign of our mission energy and our willingness to look outward and not simply inward.”
