In an effort to raise funds to help alleviate hunger and suffering in children, Episcopal Relief and Development (ERD) has designated November 14 as Episcopal World Hunger Sunday.
Episcopal World Hunger Sunday is a coordinated hunger awareness and action initiative in support of the United Nation’s Millennium Development Goals, in which every parish in the Episcopal Church is helping to cut in half by 2015 the number of children who suffer from hunger in the U.S. and worldwide. ERD statistics state that this goal can be met if each person contributed 7 cents a day.
Since September, ERD has sent resources to all parishes throughout the dioceses to help implement this day or a more appropriate Sunday in the Fall; to educate parishioners about hunger and poverty both in their community and around the world; and kickoff a long-term movement of faith and action in their parish that will have an impact.
