At the Armenian Genocide Memorial, which commemorates the death of more than 1.5 million Armenians in 1915 at the hands of Turks of the Ottoman Empire, the Presiding Bishop wrote in the book of remembrance, laid a wreath in memory of the victims and offered a prayer.

Almighty and all merciful God, your only begotten Son, Jesus Christ suffered death upon the cross and rose to life again that we, through baptism, might live in the glorious light of his resurrection. We pray for the souls of your sons and daughters who perished in the Armenian Genocide. May all that they suffered and endured be acknowledged throughout the world and lead us into the ways of justice and peace. And may the prayers of the Holy and ever-blessed Virgin Mary, the Theotokos, and St. Gregory the Illuminator, together with those of all the martyrs and saints of ages past, strengthen and upbuild the church, in this land and in the Diaspora, making it an ever clearer sign of your kingdom and an instrument of your grace and reconciling love. This we pray through Jesus Christ our Savior who with you, and the Holy Spirit, lives and reigns, one God, now and forever.
Amen.
The Most Rev. Frank T. Griswold Presiding Bishop and Primate The Episcopal Church, USA July 5, 2005 Armenia Genocide Memorial, Yerevan
