As communities along the Florida coast brace for Hurricane Wilma, Episcopal dioceses along the storm’s projected path are preparing and evacuating. The Category 4 hurricane is packing winds of 145 mph. Though the path of the hurricane is still uncertain, ERD stands ready to provide emergency assistance as needs arise.

Hurricane Wilma is expected to make landfall in Southern Florida during mid-afternoon hours on Monday, October 24th. Authorities in Florida have already evacuated the Keys and regions such as Naples, FL, which is a popular tourist destination.

There are reports of catastrophic damage in Cozumel and Cancun, Mexico, where the hurricane hit early Friday morning.

Please pray for those who will be affected by Hurricane Wilma, and continue to pray for those already impacted by a devastating hurricane season.
