NEW YORK CITY: Music is in the air at St. Bartholomew's Church - - - "Manhattan Voices" kicks off this evening at 7:30 p.m. with "To B or Not to B," a primarily a cappella performance of the music of Bach, Brahms, Bernstein, Barber, Billings, Berkeley, Byrd and Benjamin Britten. Concert tickets are $20 and $15 students/seniors. "The Pharos Music Project: New Choral Music" takes place October 29, at 7:30 p.m. Vocal composers James Blachly, Patrick Castillo, and Martha Sullivan spearhead this new-music collective that features an a cappella choral. Tickets are $20 and $15 students/seniors.

WASHINGTON, D.C.: Religion & Ecology Unite - - - The first of three dinner lectures that will explore religion and ecology begins this evening at 6 p.m. with dinner in the Cathedral College refectory followed by the lecture and panel discussion "Saving the Anacostia-The Forgotten River" 7-8:30 p.m. in the library. Reservations are required. A series subscription is $125, individual registrations including dinner are $50, and individual registration for lectures only are $25. Charles Willie, professor emeritus, Harvard University Graduate School of Education, will continue the series on October 27, 7-8:30 p.m. at Sherrill Hall, Episcopal Divinity School, with "Achieve Universal Primary Education."

The combo's appearance will mark the continuation of "The Arts at St. Patrick's," a performance series from August to December that integrates diverse musical styles into the church experience. PORTLAND, OREGON: Via Media series continues - - - The via media DVD and small-group exploration of Anglican faith continues at Saints Peter and Paul Episcopal Church located at 8147 SE Pine St. on October 30. Via media has been invaluable both in presenting life and faith in positive, dynamic ways to potential newcomers, and in creating a safe and warm space for present members to discuss issues close to their hearts. JACKSONVILLE, FLORIDA: Husband-wife duo to perform at St. John's Cathedral - - - Sunday, October 30 at 7:30pm St. John's Cathedral in Jacksonville, Florida will welcome Richard Tanner, Organist at Blackburn Cathedral in Lancashire, England and his wife Pippa Hyde, professional soloist, as they perform in concert in the Cathedral. The husband-wife duo has an extensive musical background, having studied at the prestigious Royal Academy of Music at Oxford University. Richard and Pippa have performed in Italy, India and the United States and Pippa has recently returned from an extended tour of Europe. They have also appeared often on the BBC and have recorded several CDs.

SEATTLE, WASHINGTON: Kozol to lecture at St. Mark's in Seattle - - - Jonathan Kozol, educator, lecturer and author - best known for his books on public education in the United States - will speak on "Apartheid in America: Our Public Schools" on October 31, 7:30 p.m., at St. Mark's Cathedral. This event is co-hosted by Saint Mark's Faith Formation, Elliott Bay Books, the Saint Mark's Ending Racism Group, and the Cathedral Shop. Admission is free.
