Monday, October 16, 2006
The Rev. William E. Scrivener

[Episcopal News Service]  The Rev. William E. Scrivener, director of Pastoral Care at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center in Cincinnati, Ohio, has been elected president of the Association for Clinical Pastoral Education (ACPE).

ACPE is a multicultural, multifaith organization devoted to providing education and improving the quality of ministry and pastoral care offered by spiritual caregivers of all faiths through the clinical educational methods of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE).

CPE began in 1925 as a form of theological education that takes place not exclusively in academic classrooms, but also in clinical settings where ministry is being practiced.

Scrivener, who is also canon for Cincinnati Children's Hospital Chaplaincy at Christ Church Cathedral, will serve as ACPE president-elect through 2007, serve two years as president and serve a year as past-president.
