Posted: Monday, November 13, 2006
The Rev. Norm Freeman, of the Diocese of Los Angeles, has spent the last two months on tour playing percussion and timpani amidst a 58-piece orchestra for Grammy and Academy award winning entertainer Barbra Streisand.

Ordained in 1997, Freeman has earned Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Music from the Juilliard School in New York City. His musical career has included performances with the New York Philharmonic, the Metropolitan Opera, Streisand's 1994 Concert Tour, and more.

Upon his return to the diocese, Freeman, a three-time Grammy nominee and Grammy Award winning percussionist on the New York Philharmonic recording of Mahler's Symphony No. 3 in D Minor, will transition into a new position as priest-in-charge, under special circumstances for St. George's Episcopal Church and Academy in Laguna Hills, California.

Streisand's tour will close at the Staple's Center in Los Angeles on November 20.
