Episcopal Asiamerica Ministry leader Christina Hing receives Bishop's Cross

Christina Hing, long-time convener of Women's Convocation of the Episcopal Asiamerica Ministry (EAM) and lay leader of Good Shepherd Episcopal Church in New York City, received the distinguished Bishop's Cross from Bishop Mark Sisk of the Diocese of New York at the banquet during the diocesan convention November 10. Hing was given the citation for her outstanding work in the advancement of Asian American ministries and women's advocacy issues. She is a founding leader of the Metropolitan Filipino Fellowship (MFM), which paved the way for the development of Filipino ministries in the dioceses of New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Long Island. She is also one of the founders of Anglican Women's Empowerment (AWE), a gathering of women from the worldwide Anglican Communion participating in the annual meeting of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women. "When one member is honored, all rejoice together...[1 Corinthians 12:26,]" said the Rev. Fred Vergara, national missioner for Asian American Ministries.
