CAMBRIDGE, Massachusetts: Episcopal Divinity School celebrates Absalom Jones
Episcopal Divinity School celebrates the 20th anniversary of its Absalom Jones Lecture on February 14 at 7 p.m., in St. John's Memorial Chapel on the EDS campus.
The Rev. Dr. Harold Lewis will lecture on Jones as "An Icon of Inclusivity." Lewis will also preach at the 8:30 a.m. Eucharist on February 15, and the Rev. Jayne Oasin, staff officer for social justice at the Episcopal Church Center, will be the celebrant.

The Diocese of Central Ecuador will meet in convention February 16-17, in Quito.
CHICAGO, Illinois: Absalom Jones Day Symposium and Observance
The Diocese of Chicago's weekend observance of the life of Absalom Jones, the first black priest in the Episcopal Church, begins February 16 at St. Martin's, at 6:30 p.m., with Evening Prayer and a fish fry. Canon Edward Rodman, professor of pastoral theology and urban ministry at Episcopal Divinity School, will be the guest speaker at a symposium honoring Jones, at St. Edmund's, on February 17, 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. He will be joined by members of the Diocese of New Jersey for a presentation on the life and work of Jones. The weekend will conclude with the annual Absalom Jones Day service at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, the diocese's first African American parish, on February 18, at 3 p.m.

NATIONAL: Southern storyteller bishop preaches on 'Day 1'
Retired Episcopal bishop Charles F. Duvall, known for his Southern storyteller style of preaching, will be featured February 18 on "Day 1," a nationally broadcast radio program also accessible by podcast at http://www.day1.net/.
The program includes a sermon preached by Duvall and a five-minute interview with him by the program's executive producer, Peter Wallace.
Duvall retired in 2001 after 20 years as bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Central Gulf Coast. During his previous 20 years as a parish priest, he served congregations in North Carolina and South Carolina. He recently ended four years as chairman of the board of trustees of the Episcopal Media Center, which joined with the Day 1 ministry to become the Alliance for Christian Media during his tenure. He is a graduate of the Citadel and the Virginia Theological Seminary and received a doctor of divinity degree from the School of Theology at the University of the South.
Duvall emphasizes the teaching office of a bishop and conducts teaching missions and preaches in parishes and dioceses around the nation. He has recorded two audio series that retell ten popular Bible stories, "Biblical Stories Retold to Tickle the Ear and Touch the Heart." St. Philip's, Akron will host a festive Eucharist commemorating the life of the Rev. Absalom Jones on February 18 at 5 p.m. The celebrant will be the Rt. Rev. Arthur B. The Diocese of Oregon's second annual Children’s Day at the Cathedral will be held February 24 at Trinity Cathedral in Portland, Oregon.
All children in the diocese, kindergarten through fifth grade, are invited to attend. This year’s theme is "A Circle of Seasons." Using a rotation model, the children will explore each season of the church year through a well-planned day of experiential activities including arts and crafts, music, drama, storytelling, food, and worship.

NEW YORK, New York: A tribute to the Anglican Delegates to the UNCSW
The Parish of Trinity Church/St. Paul's Chapel and Anglican Women's Empowerment (AWE) will host "Girls Claiming the Future: Hopes and Challenges" on February 24 at 4 p.m. at Trinity Church, Wall Street.
This event honors the efforts of AWE, the International Anglican Women's Network (IAWN), the Office of the Anglican Communion Observer to the United Nations, the Anglican Consultative Council, and the women and men of the Episcopal Church and the Anglican Communion throughout the world who are committed to supporting the work of the UNCSW [United Nations Commission on the Status of Women] and promoting the full inclusion of women in government, civil society, and religious institutions.
The program will also offer a short film presentation of interviews with young women throughout the world on their greatest hopes and challenges; girl choristers from New York Episcopal parishes; and the commissioning of the Anglican delegates to UNCSW.

Featured speaker will be the Rev. Dr. Howard Mayberry, pastor of First A.M.E. Church, Oakland. Bishop Marc H. Andrus of the Episcopal Diocese of California will be the celebrant.
