Province II of The Episcopal Church has launched a new newsletter titled "InProv2." Published as a PDF document, InProv2 can be downloaded from the province website. The newsletter's design is a visual prelude to lively content showcasing the people and ministries of the Province.
The premier issue highlights ongoing mission work throughout Province II related to the Millennium Development Goals, as well as the province's upcoming convocation, "Living the Gospel: Greater Mission in Province II and Beyond," which will take place this April in Albany, New York.
An excerpt from "A Wing and a Prayer" by Presiding Bishop Katharine Jefferts Schori, a profile of the Diocese of Haiti and an article about Miss Olivia de Havilland, a member of the American Cathedral in Paris, are among the other features in the first issue.
"The mission of InProv2 is to build stronger connections and deeper relationships between the members of Province II, which includes the states of New Jersey and New York as well as the Dioceses of Haiti and the Virgin Islands and the Convocation of American Churches in Europe," explained InProv2 editor Laurie Wozniak. "Through sharing our stories and coming to know one another better, the way is paved for increased cooperation and ministry."
Province II is working to establish strong ministry network groups and provide a variety of regional conferences, seminars and workshops from which all members of the Province may benefit. In addition to the spring convocation, the annual Finger Lakes Conference will take place in June at Hobart William Smith College in Geneva, New York; and Tribe, a provincial youth gathering, will be held in August at Horseheads, New York. Plans are also underway for a provincial stewardship event in August.
InProv2 replaces "The Grapevine," a printed publication that served the province for the past 25 years.
