James B. Lemler featured during Lent on 'Day 1'

Tuesday, February 27, 2007
,

[Episcopal News Service]  The Rev. Dr. James B. Lemler, director of mission for the Episcopal Church, is featured the first three Sundays in Lent –- February 28, March 4 and 11 -- on "Day 1," a nationally broadcast weekly radio program also accessible via podcast.

Each program includes a sermon preached by Lemler and a five-minute interview with him conducted by the program's executive producer and host, Peter Wallace.

Lemler applies each day's Gospel readings to three themes to consider during Lent: the importance of choosing God, remembering that God longs for us, and looking at repentance as changing one's mind in order to bear the fruit of service and compassion.

Lemler, a member of the church's management team, is former dean and president of Seabury-Western Theological Seminary in Evanston, Illinois. He has served as a consultant and conference leader for numerous congregations, dioceses and nonprofit organizations and served as rector of Trinity Church, Indianapolis, for 17 years. He is a founding member of the Consortium of Endowed Episcopal Parishes (CEEP).

For more information, call 888-411-Day-1 or visit the Day 1 website.
