Fighting HIV/AIDS
Commend churches in Africa fighting AIDS, poverty and injustice; commit $150,000 to support a church-wide campaign for humanitarian development in Africa; and call on all levels of the Church to partner with the Anglican Churches in Africa and other agencies to implement the United Nations’ Millennium Development Goals. Resolve to make AIDS in developing countries a priority issue of concern, and recommend how the Episcopal Church in the United Sates can support efforts to address the pandemic. (EC 02/01)
Call upon the U.S. Government and international agencies to increase efforts to address the AIDS crisis through funding programs of education and awareness about the spread of AIDS in developing countries, programs to assist families affected by AIDS, especially the millions of orphaned children, and efforts to make affordable medications available to those infected.
