Earth Day Celebrated in Lake St. Louis, MO
From Father Charles Lewis:
I preached a sermon on care for the environment, emphasizing global warming and the consequences of it if we do not do what's necessary to stop it.  I mentioned such simple things as driving less and within speed limits, taking your own mug to coffee drive-thrus, and churches themselves using washable dishes instead of paper or plastic items.  "WWJD," I said, is nonsensical in this area ("What Would Jesus Do").  Instead, responding to the Christian theology of creation and redemption, we should, using all the scientific knowledge we have today, work to care for and preserve "this fragile Earth, our island home."

The Rev. Charles H. Morris is an Assisting Priest (retired) at the Episcopal Church of the Transfiguration, Lake St. Louis, MO.
