You might be thinking that the Farm Bill is just about the well-being of American farmers, but in fact the legislation touches all Americans - especially those who are hungry – as well as  hundreds of millions of people around the world.

During Lent, EPPN will be bringing you a series of weekly alerts that focus on different aspects of the Farm Bill -- and this page will grow with more information during Lent as well.

As Congress begins the important work of renewing the Farm Bill, the Episcopal Church is joining with other communities of faith to work for much-needed improvements in the legislation that will:
  • Provide better support for U.S. farmers;
  • Strengthen rural communities;
  • Ensure a nutritious diet for those in need;
  • Provide for better stewardship of the land;
  • Invest in clean and renewable energy development; and
  • Support the efforts of small-scale farmers in poor countries to feed their families and help lift their communities out of poverty.
