Lent 1: Climate Change Affecting Our Environment

Our climate is changing – and that means different things in different regions around the world. In some places it means droughts, in others extreme storms, and in still others melting ice. What it means for all of us is a degradation of the amazing beauty that God created for us. It means that we should be doing all we can to slow these changes in our environment.

Green Stories from Episcopalians: "Small But Mighty"

Here at Christ Church in Anchorage, AK, we began an education/encouragement program to help people move toward awareness and increasing action related to the environment and global warming. Our parish is small (about 45 active members), but self described as "mighty". In September, we put an article in our newsletter (see attached) and then put a list in our fellowship hall where people could record their actions and changes toward a "greener" life style. Then, in our next newsletter in our November newsletter, we summarized those changes and made more suggestions (see attached). In a couple of weeks, we'll have the third installment.

One of the great things about this has been the ongoing conversations between parishioners about small, but potentially mighty ways we CAN make a difference.
