For Parents
Treasure Magazine is a resource of the Episcopal Church through which children learn about the mission of the church in the world. We live in a time when the church is being asked to examine the ways we can share our faith and hope as well as our love with others. Treasure Magazine is one way to share conversations of faith, imagine what it is like living as a Christian in another country and the importance of how we proclaim our faith to others. You might want to daily pray the Anglican Cycle of Prayer.

The Bible
Bible versus are central to Treasure Magazine. Sharing the Scripture passages with your children is very important. You may want to begin with a prayer, invite them to read ( if age appropriate), share the passage as a story, and then ask wonder questions such as:
"I wonder who Jesus is?" "I wonder who the disciples are?"
Listen and allow for their response. Then share one of the stories or activities in Treasure Magazine. After the story is shared take some time to reflect with them. Imagine with them what it means to be faithful to baptismal vows. Here is your opportunity to build habits of prayer, communication and discipleship with your child.

Treasure and You
The sense of being important and valued will be greatly enhanced if you, too, are involved in the Treasure Magazine study and project. We teach the children, "Where your treasure is there will your heart be also." (Matthew 6:21) by "treasure" we mean time and effort, as well as money. No amount of effort or energy can match the power of children seeing their elders show what they believe in deed as well as word. So join your children on their spiritual journey. Follow the journey of Treasure Bear as he brings to life the mission of the church in the Anglican Communion.

PARENTS as PARTNERS
What you might wonder in using this Resource on line with their children:

The Office of Children’s Ministries and Christian Education invites households to share this on line resource in creative ways to encourage faith formation within the family. It might be helpful to choose a particular gathering time, perhaps a weekday evening or Saturday night or even Sunday afternoon. The options are as creative as your schedules can be.

There is a special prayer, Scripture passage and a story from the Diocese of Jerusalem for four learning sessions. We believe that the family is a small learning community and that as you share each learning session, the questions and as you pray together you will deepen your relationship with God, with each other and with those who while live around the globe are deeply connected to us.

You might want to create a gift box using a milk carton, or jewelry box or even an oatmeal box. Decorate the box with the stickers you can down load or draw images or signs of peace. Prepare for a special time to talk about the possibilities that your offering will support. All offerings will be sent to the Diocese of Jerusalem. Please send your offering too Jerusalem 2000, The Episcopal Church, P.O. Box 12043, Newark NJ 07101-5043. Make checks payable to "Jerusalem 2000" and mark them “Treasure Jerusalem.” Contributions may also be made on-line at www.disasternews.net/donations/erd-jerusalem.php

Among the projects to be funded: classrooms and laboratories for the Arab Evangelical Episcopal School in Ramallah, improvements to churches in: Raineh, Shefar Amre, Ramallah, Birzeit, and Marka.

Two thousand years ago in the very land of Jerusalem a tiny baby grew to speak so many wonderful words about God. His name was Jesus and his mandate was to heal the sick, clothe the naked, live in righteousness. Two thousand years later, the Anglican Church lives out that mandate. Presently the Diocese of Jerusalem needs financial and prayer support to continue to do the very work of the Gospel. Share the stories, listen and learn together and offer from your heart the gift of love that God has already given us in Jesus.
