Story Four
Read the Scripture from the Gospel according to Matthew

When Jesus saw the crowds and went up in the mountain and his disciples came to him he began to tell them "Blessed are the Poor in Spirit". He kept telling them who was blessed. And people wondered who is blessed?

Wonder Questions:

Then Jesus said, Blessed are the peacemakers.
• Wonder with the disciples, " who are the peace makers?"
• Who are the peacemakers today?
• What is peace? What does peace look like?
• What kind of peace do you hope for?
• What can we do to offer peace to another?

Look at the hope for peace in the Diocese of Jerusalem:

Josephine is 9 years old, she will begin the fifth grade in the fall. She wants to be a pediatrician when she grows up. She is a refugee from Sudan. She lives in Syria now, but her father and some of her family still lives in Sudan. Listen to Josephine’s prayers that reflect a miracle of peace.

Let God help all the children, both here and in the US, and let them live in peace and harmony, and love themselves as Jesus loves us. The miracle of love in the celebration of the birth of Christ, and in our lives as Christians all around the world, causes us to respond this week in miraculous ways of giving.

Making Connections between home and church
