Join over one hundred Episcopalians from across the church who will gather to learn about how the Scriptures, Baptismal Covenant, and our faith compel us to give voice to those most vulnerable in our nation: children, youth, and families. Through worship, workshops, and learning in community, we will focus on health, education and juvenile justice and what we can do to advocate for children and their families both in Washington and at home, “seeking and serving Christ in all persons.”
Our keynote speaker will be the Rev. Dr. Eileen W. Lindner, is Deputy General Secretary for Research and Planning of the National Council of Churches USA. She has served on national and international commissions dealing with topics related to children and to families. She serves as Theologian in Residence to the Children's Defense Fund's Summer Institute in Child Advocacy and is a member of the Steering Council for the CDF's "Campaign to Leave No Child Behind." Dr. Lindner also served the CDF as Interim Director of Religious Affairs. Dr. Lindner is a member of the Board of Directors of Stand For Children and of the Good Schools Pennsylvania Founding Council.
You also will have an unprecedented opportunity to meet your representatives in Washingtonto support a strong national commitment to the children of our nation, focusing on a current, real-life, real-time issue pending in Congress. Through this event, you will be able to put your faith into action and take home practical ideas and strategies to share with others.
