Document Description: The church has tended to separate its life into separate areas of discipline that have become associated with secular disciplines. Catechesis has been modeled on the public school. Pastoral care has been modeled on the therapist's practice. What were once conceived of as separate disciplines must now be seen as a unified catechetical ministry informed by the baptismal covenant rather than by secular models.
