Document Description: The first and primary context in which our catechetical ministry of formation, education, and instruction should take place is the home, that place in which persons reside alone or in groups, related by blood or by commitment. The days when the school was seen as contributing to the establishment of a "Christian ethos" are over. Today schools must be "religion neutral." This means that the congregation must look for ways of relating to the local schools in positive and at the same time take more responsibility for the catechesis of its own children.
