I am enjoying my fourth year as the Director of Youth and Young Adult Ministries at St. James’ Church.  Prior to working at St. James’, I taught eighth grade Religion at St. Stephen’s and St. Agnes Episcopal School in Alexandria, VA and was a dorm parent at the Westover School for Girls in Connecticut.  I received a BA from Columbia University in 1999 and an MDiv from Yale University in 2004.  My internships have included CPE work at St. Elizabeth’s Psychiatric Hospital in Washington, DC and Fellowship Place, in New Haven, CT.  A native of Washington, DC, I now live in Brooklyn with my husband, Ian, and dog, Blackberry.  I feel called to work with young people in large part because of my own faith history.  As a teenager, I became aware of God in new ways - in nature, my relationships and myself.   Recalling that period - a high point in my own faith - reminds me that young people’s minds are as discerning as anyone’s when it comes to God.  Their hearts are as deep and their souls are as intricate.  My favorite part of youth and young adult ministries is the sense I am able to have of God’s children growing closer to God.  I feel blessed to be a witness and, I hope, an aide to so many sacred journeys.
