The Rev. Ben Robertson
E-mail Ben

I am a cradle Episcopalian, born in Louisville, KY and raised at St. Francis-in-the-Fields, Harrods Creek, KY.  As a younger person, I was (and still am!) the prototypical “church nerd,” very involved in youth group and choir as well as youth events at the diocesan, provincial, and national level.  After completing high school, I attended Kenyon College in Gambier, Ohio, majored in history and legal studies, and graduated in 1996.

After Kenyon, I moved to Washington, D.C. to work as a legislative aide in the House of Representatives.  But the Spirit had something else in mind and after some good prayer and discernment; I entered Virginia Theological Seminary in 2000, sponsored by my home diocese of Kentucky.  Between my second and third year at VTS, I married my beloved wife Ellen, my best friend and invaluable support.  Also during seminary, I enjoyed two wonderful years of field education at St. Columbia’s, Washington, D.C.

Upon graduation and ordination in 2003, I was called by St. Matthew’s, Louisville, KY to serve as Assistant Rector.  Part of a fantastic team, I focused on youth, young adults, publications, and our partnership with St. Anna's, New Orleans after hurricane Katrina.  Then, after a wonderful three years, in October 2006 I was called to be the rector of All Saints', Gastonia, NC in the diocese of Western North Carolina.  All Saints' is a vibrant, diverse, and welcoming community of faith and I am honored to serve God among them.

In my free time, I enjoy hanging out with my wife, playing with our golden retriever Bailey, listening to podcasts, insulting the game of golf, and being disappointed by the athletic endeavors of the University of Kentucky.  But the light of my life and my greatest joy is my daughter Anna, born in December 2007.
