Short-Term Domestic Internship Program (SIP)

  • Ever considered engaging God’s mission in a different part of the USA?
  • Thought that year-long mission internships were too long to consider seriously?
  • Would you like to make a difference by giving service to people in need?

If you answered “yes” to any or all of these questions, you should consider Short-term domestic Internship Programs for Young Adults (SIP), offered in eight week terms throughout the year.

Choose from five service periods in 2008 and 2009:

  • May 28 to July 24, 2008:  Apply by April 25, 2008
  • Sept 17 to Nov 13, 2008:  Apply by August 22, 2008
  • January 7 to March 5, 2009:  Apply by December 12, 2008
  • March 18 to May 14, 2009:  Apply by February 20, 2009
  • May 27 to July 23, 2009:  Apply by April 24, 2009

Applicants should be at least 18 years of age, have some workplace and service experience, and be active members of the Episcopal Church.  Persons with disabilities are encouraged to apply but not every site is equally accessible.  Participants will be asked to raise $500 from local sources to contribute to a travel and program pool.

The Office for Young Adult & Higher Education Ministries will provide roundtrip long-distance transportation, medical insurance, student loan deferment, and an annual gathering for interns and supervisors; Ministry sites will provide housing and subsistence, meaningful work, intentional Christian community, and oversight.
