The resources available to begin or continue a strong youth ministries program are endless. If you are "the" youth worker in a parish or simply want to do one youth retreat on a weekend, the volume of material for doing a retreat is overwhelming.
If you get a job in a diocesan office, there is considerably less written material available on the subject. This article examines three points regarding youth ministries on a diocesan level. First, I will examine what diocesan youth ministry (DYM) often is—a program model. Second, I will look at what DYM could and/or should be—a resource model. Finally, I will develop how a diocese can implement changes.
