THE THEME: Often the most unlikely people turn out to be the most faithful.

THE STORY:Luke 17:11-19 Have someone read the lesson aloud.

SOME QUESTIONS TO TALK ABOUT:

1. What does the class know about the Jews' attitude towards Samaritans? Lepers? Using a Bible Commentary or other resources, find out what you can about the treatment of lepers and Samaritans by the Jews in Jesus time.
2. What other Gospel stories do you know that concern lepers and/or Samaritans?
3. What point do you think this story is making?
4. Why do you think the Samaritan leper returned to give thanks?
5. Why do you think the other nine did not return to say "thank you"?
6. Who are the lepers and Samaritans in our society?
7. What is this Gospel causing us to consider or to do? What responsibility do we have to include the outcasts of society into our midst and our church family? How might we do this? Discuss.

End with the Collect for the day.
