Year C, Proper 22 (BCP pg. 182 or pg. 234), Habbakuk 1:1-6 (7-11) 12-13; 2:1-4; Psalm 37:1-18 or 37:3-10; 2 Timothy 1:(5) 6-14; Luke 17:5-10
WAYS TO BEGIN: As usual, greet your class and spend time together with coffee, talking about the past week etc. Then move to a circle.

THEME:God doesn't reward us for doing what we are expected to do.

THE STORY:Luke 17:5-10. Have someone read the story aloud.

SOME QUESTIONS TO TALK ABOUT:

1. What does faith mean to you? Is life easier or harder for people of faith? What do you think?
2. Why do you think faith comes easy for some, and very hard for others?
Are you "given" faith? Do you "earn" faith? Can you learn to be faithful? Discuss.
3. The story of the servant is about not expecting rewards for doing what is required of you. Do you agree that one should not be rewarded for doing their duty? Should you be punished for not doing your duty? Why or why not?
4. How many of you reward your children for making good grades? Is this a duty you expect of them? Discuss.
5. What kinds of things do you believe deserve rewards?
6. What rewards, if any, do you expect of God.

End with the Collect for the day.
