Lesson Plans for Adults, Pentecost 16
Year C, Proper 20 (BCP pg. 182 or pg. 234), mos 8:4-7 (8-12); Psalm 138; 1 Timothy 2: 1-8; Luke 16:1- 13



WAYS TO BEGIN: As usual, begin with social time over coffee or some light refreshment, then move to a circle.

THE THEME: The parable of the steward (a difficult one to understand) is about living in preparation for the Judgement that is coming.

THE STORY: Luke 16:1-13 Read the lesson aloud. You may wish to provide copies for the class, as this is a difficult passage to understand.

SOME QUESTIONS TO TALK ABOUT:

1. What meaning do you get from this passage? What do you think Jesus was trying to get across?
2. How do you go about making decisions when two things are in conflict?
3. What Christian principles do you bring to bear in decision making?
4. What process should a Christian go through to decide in matters that ask you to choose between God and matters of finance? Discuss.
