General Seminary expands learning opportunities for summer 2008

[General Theological Seminary] General Theological Seminary's 2008 summer term, May-July, will feature its largest selection ever of short academic courses. These brief, intensive courses (two days-two weeks in length) will cover an array of timely topics. Classes, led by the seminary's faculty, will be held at the GTS campus located in the heart of Manhattan.

The courses may be audited or taken for academic credit. Details and brief descriptions follow:
 
"Exploring Jesus' Family Values" with Dr. Deirdre Good, May 19-20; 1-2 credits or audit.

"The Venerable Bede and Anglican Origins" with the Rev. Canon J. Robert Wright, May 28-29; 1-2 credits or audit.

"The Jesus Prayer and Eastern Christian Spiritual Practice" with Dr. Elisabeth Koenig, May 30-31; 1-2 credits or audit.

"Suffering and the Book of Job" with the Rev. Dr. Robert Owens, June 2-4 (morning sessions only); 1-2 credits or audit.

"The Rise of Evangelicalism" with Dr. R. Bruce Mullin, June 2-4 (afternoon sessions only); 1-2 credits or audit.

"Soul Banquets: Meals and Mission in Congregations" with the Rev. Dr. John Koenig, June 6-7; 1-2 credits or audit.

"Women's Spirituality and Contemporary Religion" with Dr. Katherine Kurs, June 9-13; 2-3 credits or audit.

"Imagination of the Modern Church: Art, Poetry and Spirituality 1500-Present"  with the Rev. Dr. Clair McPherson, June 17-27 (mornings); 2-3 credits or audit.

"Introduction to Christian Ethics" with the Rev. Dr. William Danaher, June 17-27 (mornings); 3 credits only or audit.

"Praying with Christian Spiritual Classics" with the Rev. Dr. Jonathan Linman, June 16-26, (afternoons); 2-3 credits or audit.

"The Art of Contemplative Prayer" with the Rev. Dr. David Keller, June 16-26, (afternoons); 2-3 credits or audit. This class is being co-sponsored by the Contemplative Ministry Project.

"Church Growth Strategies That Work" with the Rev. Dr. Roy Cole, June 30-July 1; 1-2 credits or audit.
