Women Clergy & an Anglican Volunteer
Thousands gathered outside the Washington National Cathedral to attend the Investiture of Katharine Jefferts Schori as 26th Presiding Bishop. In the crowd were many female clergy, celebrating the fact that thirty years after women were admitted to the orders of priest and bishop, a woman would be occupying the highest clerical post in the Episcopal Church. Cathedral volunteers were assigned to help the assembled crowds. This volunteer who was raised in the Anglican Church of Australia, which currently does not consecrate women to the Episcopate wears a pin exclaiming Its a Girl! - Photos by Bowie Snodgrass |
