About the Author

The Rev. David Copley, a seasoned missionary with experience in Africa and Latin America, joined the Episcopal Church Center staff as Mission Personnel director in September 2006. He is responsible for the recruitment and support of more than 70 persons serving as missionaries and Young Adult Service Corps members in approximately 30 countries worldwide.

David, a native of Nottingham, England, began his career as a pediatric nurse in 1981. He worked as an emergency medical relief worker and missionary for three years in Liberia from 1991-94 where his faith was renewed and where he met his future wife, Susan. The Copley’s served as appointed missionaries in Bolivia for four years with their daughter Megan, following which they returned to the US in 1999 to attend Virginia Theological Seminary. After completing their studies in 2003, they were appointed as assistant rectors at St. John's Episcopal Church in Hampton, Virginia where they served for three years until their move to New York.
