Felix quickly lost strength to a tropical storm as it blew across Nicaragua and Honduras drenching the region with rain.

The hurricane has killed at least four people and destroyed thousands of homes. Heavy rains have triggered fears of flooding and mudslides, particularly in areas where shantytowns are in close proximity to hillsides.

In Belize, there is great concern for the Southern region of the country where many Mayan communities live in homes that are vulnerable to hurricane strength winds and flooding.

An ERD release said its staff is in communication with long-standing Anglican partners in Nicaragua, Honduras, and Belize to identify needs. "Our partners in Honduras are currently working in coordination with national disaster response committees," the release said. "ERD is ready to provide emergency aid as needs are identified."
