Dancing With The Spirit, U2Charist, Martini Shaw featured in 'Episcopal Life Focus' multicast

[Episcopal News Service] The February edition of "Episcopal Life Focus" -- a half-hour video "multicast" featuring church mission, ministries and news -- is posted for online viewing here.

This month's edition features a look at Dancing With The Spirit, a program that connects youth and elders in Alaskan villages and towns through music. Led by the Rev. Belle Michelson, the group provides instruments and teaches singing, music, and dancing through schools, churches, and other organizations. Their goal is to build strong communities and prevent alcoholism, drug abuse, and suicide in communities at risk.

Anchored by Episcopal Life Media executive editor Jan Nunley and produced by Michael Collins, the February Focus edition also includes a conversation with the Rev. Martini Shaw, rector of the historic African Episcopal Church of St. Thomas in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

An additional segment includes an expanded look at U2Charist and how this exciting liturgical innovation is popping up in places throughout the Episcopal Church.

As always, Episcopal Life Focus includes a calendar of events and a pastoral reflection from Canon to the Presiding Bishop, the Rev. Chuck Robertson, on Lent.

This edition of Episcopal Life Focus is sponsored by Episcopal Books and Resources, with online captioning for the hearing impaired provided by the Episcopal Church Women, Diocese of Los Angeles.

The program is also available for placement on community-access cable channels offering free air time. Further information is available by phoning Collins at 212-716-6018.

Direct inquiries about programming and requests regarding community-access cable placement can be addressed to Collins via e-mail, mcollins@episcopalchurch.org, or by phoning 212-716-6018.

The program is part of the newly integrated "Episcopal Life Media" initiative that complements the church-wide monthly newspaper, Episcopal Life, with the Episcopal Life Online website, weekday email releases, regular streaming video reports and weekly inserts for Sunday parish bulletins. Top stories are featured from the Episcopal News Service.
