LOS ANGELES: Parish supper program featured on Food Channel

[Diocese of Los Angeles] The Food Channel, a popular cable TV station, recently featured a video story about a meal program for homeless men and women that has been offered every week for 15 years by St. Barnabas Church in the Eagle Rock section of Los Angeles.

The segment focused on students from nearby Occidental College who have been helping with the suppers.

"Over the past two years students from Oxy College have been assisting us two weeks a month by cooking and the other weeks by serving during the school year," said the Rev. Thomas Discavage, rector of St. Barnabas.

One of the student workers submitted a story idea to the Food Channel. The result, posted on the Food Channel website, shows the students and St. Barnabas' parishioners at work in the parish's kitchen and serving all comers in the parish hall.

The story is available here.
