[Diocese of Minnesota] The nave was packed at La Misión el Santo Niño Jesús in St. Paul, Minnesota, December 11-12 for the all-night traditional Mexican festival honoring the Virgin of Guadalupe.

The festival is the congregation's annual outreach to the Mexican community in the Twin Cities area. Episcopal Diocese of Minnesota Bishop James Jelinek presided at Mass, assisted by Metro Canon Missioner Susan Moss and the Rev. Mark Thompson, vicar of St. Paul's on-the-Hill, El Santo Niño's sister congregation. During the service, Jelinek blessed hundreds of bottles of water for worshippers to take home with them.

The liturgy was followed by a grand celebration with Aztec dancers, Mariachi, and a play reenacting the story of Juan Diego, the Mexican peasant to whom the Virgin of Guadalupe appeared in 1531. The festival concluded in the small hours of December 12 with a feast that was offered to one and all.
