Soloist and gospel singer Horace Clarence Boyer has tracheotomy

[Episcopal News Service] Noted soloist Horace Clarence Boyer, who has directed countless singers in choirs, ensembles and workshops and who edited the Episcopal Church's African-American hymnal "Lift Every Voice and Sing II," had an operation on his throat recently.

His rector says good-will cards and messages may be sent to Grace Episcopal Church, c/o Horace Boyer, 14 Boltwood Ave., Amherst, Massachusetts 01002-2301.

Boyer was born into a Pentecostal family in Winter Park, Florida, but was drawn to the Anglican Church as a young man because of its music.
