CLUE to honor Richard W. Gillett of Los Angeles

[Episcopal News Service] The Rev. Canon Richard Gillett, social justice minister for the Diocese of Los Angeles will be among those honored May 22 at the fourth annual "Giants of Justice" luncheon sponsored by Clergy and Laity United for Economic Justice (CLUE.)

CLUE recognizes religious leaders whose responses to the crisis of working poverty make them "Giants of Justice." 

Other honorees include Bishop John Bryant of the African Methodist Episcopal Church; Rabbi Robert Gan of Temple Isaiah; the Joan Harper, program consultant for the Office of Justice and Peace in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles; and Shakeel Syed, executive director of the Islamic Shura Council of Southern California.

Gillett and others will reflect upon how they have opened the doors for justice in their communities and will share insights that will help and inspire future generations of leaders.

The luncheon will begin at 11 a.m. at Sinai Temple in Westwood, Los Angeles.

Tickets are $65, community rate $50 and student rate $20.
