[CDSP] The Rev. Belle Mickelson, a '07 alumna of the Church Divinity School of the Pacific in Berkeley, California, has been selected to receive the Rev. Dr. E.F. Michael Morgan Director's Award by the board of directors of the Evangelical Education Society (EES) of the Episcopal Church. Mickelson was honored for her work in convening "Dancing with the Spirit," a bluegrass gospel music camp for Athabaskan Indian children and youth, during the three summers, 2004-6, while she was in seminary at CDSP. Mickelson's work was deemed by the EES Board to be "an exemplary fulfillment of the Society's objectives."

"All of us at CDSP are very proud that Belle has received this special honor and well-deserved recognition for her outstanding work, which embodies our mission and vision," said Donn F. Morgan, CDSP president and dean.

The Director's Award is named for the Rev. E.F. Michael Morgan, Ph.D., who served on the board of EES for many years until his retirement in 2007. Co-recipients of the 2007 award are Dorothy Linthicum, program coordinator for the Center of the Ministry of Teaching at Virginia Theological Seminary; and Kevin Cross, M.Div., senior at Episcopal Divinity School in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Linthicum was recognized for her work in teaching the principles of Christian Education to seminarians at the College of the Transfiguration in Grahamstowne, South Africa; Cross was recognized for a widely acclaimed conference -- "Listening for the Still, Small Voice: Addiction and Adolescents - The Spiritual Journey from Illness to Recovery" -- that he held at Trinity Episcopal Church in Boston for parish youth and campus ministers as well as lay youth leaders. Each was a recipient of an "Evangelism for the 21st century" grant for the 2006-7.
