
Connecticut priest Aaron Manderbach honored on 70th anniversary of ordination
[Episcopal News Service] St. Stephen's Church in Ridgefield, Connecticut, honored its rector emeritus, the Rev. Dr. Aaron Manderbach, with a festive Eucharist and reception on December 15 celebrating the 70th anniversary of his ordination to the priesthood.The service was attended by Connecticut Bishop Suffragan James E. Curry, retired Connecticut Bishop Suffragan Jeffery Rowthorn, and the Very Rev. Joseph Britton, dean and president of the Berkley Divinity School at Yale.
Manderbach, 95, was ordained a priest in 1937. He served at Church of the Mediator in Philadelphia in 1937, and became vicar of Trinity Church, Collingsdale, Pennsylvania, in 1940.
In 1950, Manderbach was called as rector of St. Stephen's, where he served until his retirement in 1980. He continued to serve as an interim priest at congregations in the Diocese of Connecticut, and is associate rector emeritus of Trinity Church, Lime Rock.
Although retired from active interim ministry, Manderbach still assists occasionally at St. Stephen's and leads ecumenical services at the retirement home at which he is a resident.
Upon Manderbach's retirement, St. Stephen's established a scholarship in his honor, which is awarded annually to a student at Berkley Divinity School. Contributions to the scholarship fund may be made payable to Berkley Divinity School at Yale (designated for the Manderbach Scholarship Fund) and mailed to St. Stephen's Church, 351 Main Street, Ridgefield, CT 06877.
