In 2006 the United Thank Offering Committee approved 112 grants totaling $2,419,628.54. Grants will fund projects and programs which meet compelling human needs and/or expand the mission and ministry of the church.
Two grants totaling $120,000 will go to the Diocese of Louisiana for projects related to rebuilding after Hurricane Katrina. This year the largest grant was to the Diocese of Louisiana for $85,000. Two other large grants for $70,000 each went to Honduras and the Dominician Republic. The samllest grant was to the Diocese of Fond du Lac for $1,700, and the average grant amount was $21,603.83. Each United Thank Offering grant, large or small, is in response to needs identified by dioceses and provinces throughout the Anglican Communion.
