Welcomes You

Young Adult Intentional Community on Rosebud

The Rev. Lauren Stanley
Intentional Community Mentor and Priest in Charge

Our Community is centered on commitments of Prayer, Listening and Hospitality to guide us in building culturally respectful, beneficial relationships with our Lakota neighbors.

Along with daily prayer in chapel and communal life, a variety of ministry, service and community engagement opportunities are possible based on gifts and interests of applicants.  Our work partners with local Lakota Episcopal communities as well as a growing network of nonprofits and ecumenical partners.

Our Rule of Life prefers nurturing relationships over "finding quick solutions" to the complex challenges and unexpected blessings of reservation life.  This posture of humility helps us to be respectfully present and open to the people around us, serving God's mission of reconciliation.

While Episcopal and ELCA Lutheran in our sponsorship and Christian in our orientation, applicants who feel drawn to our life are welcome from diverse denominational/faith backgrounds. Year commitments preferred, but start times are flexible and summer/shorter periods are sometimes possible depending on program needs.

Program presently supports 3 "sponsored/scholarship" members, but is also interested in additional short or long-term self-supporting candidates (either through outside funding or employment) who can enrich our mission and contribute reasonably towards our life together.  College degrees are not required, but at some post-secondary work or educational life experience is preferred.  Sponsored members receive stipends and modest communal food/work travel assistance, as well as possibility of a few courses in Lakota language/culture/history through Sinte Gleska University.  Safe Church and Lakota/Dakota cultural sensitivity training offered through Diocese are mandatory and also covered.

Please contact us with any questions or further application details.  Initial interviews usually over Skype or phone with current Community members and mentors - we also request applicants make a several-day visit if at all possible to experience our Community and reservation life before a final invitation is extended.
