It’s innovative.  It’s young.  It’s an Episcopal and Lutheran congregation, truly living into Called to Common Mission.  It’s the Church of the Apostles http://www.apostleschurch.org/ in Seattle, WA (Diocese of Olympia), and, to many, it’s the face of the future.

The Church of the Apostles is featured in a new video in the groundbreaking series, Transforming Churches, Changing the World. Produced by the Episcopal Church Office of Communication, the video is available here:

The video captures the congregation’s energy in the exploration of faith. Church of the Apostles is located in Fremont Abbey Arts Center, offering innovative arts in the heart of the city. http://fremontabbey.org/

According to the website http://www.apostleschurch.org/, Church of the Apostles “is a young, emerging, Episcopal and Lutheran mission congregation, started in 2002. We refer to ourselves as 'an intentional, sacramental community in the way of Jesus Christ,' because in the story of Jesus, we have glimpsed God's future and know that "thiscouldchangeeverything." So our purpose is tohelpgodchangeeverything by participating in God's future within today's culture and our local zip code, living and serving in intentional, sacramental community in the way of Jesus Christ.”

"Church of the Apostles is a model of what ‘church’ can be in a place like Seattle, or anywhere really,” commented Mike Collins, Episcopal Church Manager, Multimedia Services. “Everything is based in tradition but tweaked to suit its local context. Clearly it's working and working well for them."
