Trinity Youth Chorus and Neighborhood Outreach Choirs sing songs celebrating community, connection and freedom in “Comin’ Up Shoutin,” a program arranged by special guest, singer-songwriter Melanie DeMore.
DeMore’s style of music can be described as a blend of African-American folk music, soulful ballads, spirituals, and her own original music. She is a founding member of the Grammy-nominated, critically-acclaimed vocal ensemble Linda Tillery and the Cultural Heritage Choir. DeMore has performed at Trinity before, recently leading the audience in singing “Amazing Grace” during the 10th anniversary observances for September 11.
The Trinity Youth Chorus is a culturally diverse choir that offers children and teens the opportunity to be part of a serious choral program devoted to disciplined music-making and fosters the formation of character and engaged citizenship. It is led by experienced, dedicated professional musicians who teach vocal technique, sight singing, music theory, and history. The Trinity Youth Chorus can be heard in the movie Doubt and has been featured on Public Radio International, the CBS Early Show, at the Tribeca Family Festival, and at the Philadelphia Italian Market Festival.
