Torquato Tassoâ€™s epic poem Gerusalemme Liberata inspired Italian Renaissance and baroque madrigal composers for over 50 years, with its tales of love, war, and betrayal during the Crusades.
ARTEK will present 16th-century madrigal settings by Giaches de Wert and Claudio Monteverdi, two of the great madrigal masters, together with 17th-century monody and additional madrigal settings by Rovetta, Mazzocchi, and others. Featuring the renowned ARTEK singers: Laura Heimes, Barbara Hollinshead, Ryland Angel, Philip Anderson, and Peter Becker, together with members of ARTEKâ€™soutstanding continuo band.
