Torquato Tasso’s epic poem Gerusalemme Liberata inspired Italian Renaissance and baroque madrigal composers for over 50 years, with its tales of love, war, and betrayal during the Crusades.
ARTEK will present 16th-century madrigal settings by Giaches de Wert and Claudio Monteverdi, two of the great madrigal masters, together with 17th-century monody and additional madrigal settings by Rovetta, Mazzocchi, and others. Featuring the renowned ARTEK singers: Laura Heimes, Barbara Hollinshead, Ryland Angel, Philip Anderson, and Peter Becker, together with members of ARTEK’soutstanding continuo band.
