What relationships does the Episcopal Church have with other churches?

- Dr. Tom Ferguson

«Return

The Episcopal Church relates to other churches in two different ways.  We work together with about 35 other churches in the National Council of Churches in Christ USA, and with 342 churches in 120 countries in the World Council of Churches.  The Episcopal Church also actively seeks to heal the divisions between different churches.  We achieve this through one-on-one, or in some cases multilateral conversations with other churches (e.g. with the Roman Catholic, United Methodist, Moravian Church, among others).  We realize that Christians can accomplish more working together than in our current divided shape.  We do not look towards merging, but to finding ways to cooperate as much as possible and create common structures to tackle the concerns of society.
