World Mission Sunday 2001
We Are a Missionary Church
World Mission Interpretation and Networks is again happy and excited to offer to the Church at-large resources to help The Episcopal Church everywhere celebrate World Mission Sunday. We believe that this is special opportunity to prayerfully and actively reflect upon and engage in world mission.

We want to support and enhance the Catechism's mandate "to restore all people to unity with God and each other in Christ through the ministry of all its members as the Church prays, worships, proclaims the Gospel, and promotes justice, peace and love." This year, we are offering materials on mission service: what it has been, what it is today and what it can mean for you if you are interested in discerning a call to such a ministry.

2001 Program Letter
A parish-wide mailing went out in January 2001 alerting your congregation about World Mission Sunday and what materials are available for this year. The cover letter was especially informative as it explained the various pictures featured in this year's beautiful poster. Click on the arrow to read the letter.

A LITURGY FOR WORLD MISSION SUNDAY
The Rev. Bill Laucher and The Rev. Stacey Fussell have developed a full eucharistic liturgy, with notes for use for World Mission Sunday 2001. It can be used, however, any other time your church or diocese wants to celebrate world mission. Suggestions for sermon topics and hymns are included, as well as worship elements from Anglican prayer books from all over the Anglican Communion. This liturgy is truly an opportunity to worship in the spirit of global mission at the Lord's Table.
SPECIAL TEXT RESOURCE I: SERMON
Need an idea for a sermon? The Rev. Jane Butterfield, Director of Mission Personnel, has prepared a special sermon for this year's World Mission Sunday. It is also featured in Congregational Ministries "Worship That Works," a weekly sermon series.
SPECIAL TEXT RESOURCE II: HOMILETICAL NOTE
Prof. Robert D. Hughes of the School of Theology at the University of South has offered his own brief but substantive insights on the scripture readings for World Mission Sunday. Go to this item not only for sermon preparation, but also to get a good conversation starter for an adult education forum
